Alphabet DCF Analysis

An Alphabet DCF turns on how much advertising and Cloud growth remains after delivery, research and infrastructure costs. In FY2025, operating profit increased while cash after property purchases barely changed. Forecast those two paths separately before assigning a terminal value.

Revenue, expenses and profit on one annual basis

Historical Alphabet consolidated comparison, $ millions: FY2024 ended 2024-12-31 and FY2025 ended 2025-12-31. These annual periods are separate from the later interim observation below.

The operating-cost total reconciles revenue to operating income. Other income sits below that subtotal, so using net-income growth as the operating forecast would also import investment and other nonoperating effects. Cost of revenues and research are separate deductions: a model that starts from operating profit must not deduct those expenses again.

Segment revenue makes the growth assumption testable

Cloud and advertising have different demand and delivery economics. Forecast Cloud consumption and allocated costs separately from Services monetization. The segment rows plus the hedging line reconcile to group revenue; adding advertising or subscriptions again would double count components of Services.

Reconcile reported cash before forecasting investor cash

Annual cash bridge: $ millions; outflows shown as positive deductions
MeasureFY2024FY2025
Operating cash125,299164,713
Cash property purchases: positive deduction52,53591,447
Operating cash less those purchases: derived72,76473,266

The 2025 calculation is 164,713 minus 91,447 = $73,266 million. The $39,414 million operating-cash improvement was almost absorbed by $38,912 million more property purchases. This is cash after one defined investment line, before acquisitions and financing; it is not automatically cash available to every investor.

The later interim period stays separate

Reported Q2 2026
ObservationPeriod-specific evidence
Reported interim basisQ2 2026 covers 2026-04-01 through 2026-06-30 and was released 2026-07-22. Revenue was $119,796 million in this quarter.
Interpretation boundaryThe newer quarter's net income includes investment gains. Keep those valuation movements separate from advertising/cloud operating results, and connect the larger infrastructure program to cash collection and capacity use.

Source: official interim reporting. The dated quarter is not annualized here and is not added to either full-year column. Later reporting must be checked before refreshing the valuation date.

Turn the statements into a DCF operating case

Build enterprise cash from operating income after an explicit operating-tax assumption, add back the depreciation included in that profit, and deduct the capital investment and increase in operating working capital. Keep stock compensation and dilution internally consistent. Investment gains cannot earn a perpetual operating multiple merely because they increased reported net income. A separate equity bridge then needs same-date debt, leases under the chosen convention, nonoperating assets and an appropriately dated share denominator; this page supplies no current net-debt or per-share target.

Analytical scenario design; no numerical forecast or issuer guidance assumed
DriverEvidence to carry into the forecastDownside condition to test
Advertising monetizationPaid interactions and realized monetizationServing and traffic-acquisition cost rise faster than retained revenue
Cloud expansionConsumed capacity, segment profit and cash installation datesCapacity is paid for before utilization supports its cost
Infrastructure normalizationProperty payments, depreciation and replacement cycleCash investment remains high while growth slows

Start with the revenue mix and an explicit infrastructure timetable. Compare a slower-monetization case with unchanged installation commitments against a case where already installed capacity supports more paid activity. A lower investment case must explain any lost capacity and later sales; changing only the cash deduction is a sensitivity, not an operating forecast.

Use the Alphabet financial analysis for the broader operating context, the company forecast to state the operating assumptions, and the DCF calculator only after defining the investor cash stream. Keep the statement definitions, reporting dates and your own assumptions visible when comparing valuation cases.
