Flower Shop Plan: Can the Order Window Recover the Batch Purchase?

Choose a flower batch from paid demand, usable preparation time and the cash recovery threshold.

Flower Shop Financial Model

A flower batch should be sized against both paid orders and the preparation window. Materials bought for 100 orders do not create time to complete them, and a profitable sales target does not pay the supplier before receipts arrive.

Compare the purchased batch with work that fits

Original assumptions, $ for one order window. Materials sufficient for 100 specified bouquets cost $1,800 upfront. Each completed order receives $45 and needs $3 additional packaging/fulfillment payment. Other window commitments are $1,300, including the selected preparation roster. There is no cash recovery from leftovers. Fees, tax, financing and equipment are excluded.

Assume 25 usable preparation hours, with 20 minutes per complete specified order. Only 75 orders fit, before any separately binding delivery limit. These are unmeasured planning assumptions; different arrangements need a different duration and cost case.

$3,100 / $42 requires 74 whole orders. At the 75-order preparation ceiling, only $50 remains before excluded costs. Two missed orders reduce completion to 73 and turn cash movement negative $34. A 100-order sales target is infeasible without changing resources.

Advance receipts are part of the same sales

Assume twenty orders each pay $15 before the materials bill. $300 is collected, reducing the bill's unfunded portion to $1,500. The remaining $600 from those same orders brings their total to $900; do not add the deposits on top of twenty full $45 sales.

Keep fulfillment and refund obligations beside prepayments. Count stock actually remaining, its observed usable condition and the next delivery slots before buying more. Obtain the last purchasing deadline that supports the promised window. The Flower Shop Financial Model connects traffic, conversion, repeat ordering, prices, staffing and investment in a broader forecast.

Scope & limitations

Original specified-order batch only; no usable-life, demand or safe-storage benchmark is asserted. Actual delivery, fees and leftovers need evidence.
