Fitness Studio Plan: Can Unlimited Members Use the Classes They Want?
Price membership access against the actual class timetable and instructor commitments.
On this page

Unlimited membership economics depend on when members attend, not just how many visits they average. A timetable can contain enough seats for the month and still fail to deliver access to the classes customers want.
Higher use adds cost without adding membership fees
Original assumptions, $ per month. There are 120 members paying $80, collected on day 1. Each class holds 15 under the assumed operating plan and costs $70 to teach. Servicing costs $2 per visit; other operating payments are $3,000. Forty classes are scheduled initially and confirmed instructors can provide eight more.
| Measure | 4 visits/member | 6 visits/member |
|---|---|---|
| Visits demanded | 480 | 720 |
| Classes / seats | 40 /600 | 48 /720 |
| Membership receipts | 9,600 | 9,600 |
| Teaching and visit costs | 3,760 | 4,800 |
| Result after other payments | 2,840 | 1,800 |
The extra classes cost $560 and the additional visits $480. Member receipts do not rise, so the selected result falls by $1,040. Do not add the included visits as another revenue stream.
Test peak access separately
Suppose the 48-class timetable splits equally into peak and off-peak sessions: 360 seats each. Eighty members each request six peak visits, or 480; the other forty request 240 off-peak visits. Total demand still equals 720 seats, but peak demand exceeds its supply by 120. Empty off-peak seats do not satisfy those requests.
Use actual booking and attendance patterns to test which added instructor slots solve the problem. Do not assume members will move times or remain at the same retention rate when access changes. The upfront $9,600 must fund the full month's promised classes and other obligations.
Separate trial starts, paid renewals, pauses and drop-ins before setting the revenue plan. The selected Fitness Studio Financial Model is the seller's Fitness Center model, with a membership acquisition and retention forecast to use alongside the class-level timetable.
Scope & limitations
Assumed member use and class costs, not demand or safe occupancy benchmarks. Capacity and the offer must be confirmed for the actual studio.
