Cleaning Service Plan: When Does a Denser Route Justify a Discount?
Decide whether route density pays for a recurring-contract discount without inventing a payroll saving.
On this page

A recurring cleaning discount can pay when the route delivers more contribution within the same paid roster. Shorter travel does not automatically reduce wages: first establish whether the freed hours can actually be removed from payroll or sold to another customer.
A dense route can improve contribution without saving wages
Original assumptions, $ per crew-week. Forty paid crew-hours cost $22 each, or $880. The current route has ten jobs at $120, each using four crew-hours including travel. A proposed dense route has twelve jobs at $110, each using three crew-hours. Materials cost $10 per job. Both routes use the same committed 40-hour roster; company overhead is outside this comparison.
| Measure | Current | Dense route |
|---|---|---|
| Sales | 1,200 | 1,320 |
| Paid wages | 880 | 880 |
| Materials | 100 | 120 |
| Contribution | 220 | 320 |
| Hours used / paid | 40 / 40 | 36 / 40 |
The discount improves contribution by $100. Paying only 36 hours would produce $408, but that is a different, flexible-roster assumption. Do not book the extra $88 saving while retaining all 40 paid hours. At twelve jobs the fee needed to preserve the current $220 contribution is (880 + 120 + 220) / 12, or $101.67 rounded up to cents.
Price the access obligation as well as the clean
The dense route leaves four hours for access delays or recleans. Using those hours does not increase the already committed wages, but it removes spare capacity. Beyond 40 hours, revise overtime, staffing or scope before accepting another booking. Count crew-hours across every worker, rather than confusing a two-person visit with one hour of labor.
Fund the invoice cycle
Assume wages and materials are paid in the service week and all dense-route customers pay on day 30. $1,000 must be funded before $1,320 is collected. The $320 contribution arrives after that gap; it is not available to pay the first payroll.
Time the entire proposed route, specify included tasks and reclean terms, and obtain actual collection evidence. Keep the current wage commitment in place unless the staffing arrangement really changes. The Cleaning Service Financial Model connects the chosen commercial and staffing assumptions to a broader forecast.
Scope & limitations
One assumed crew-week; overhead, taxes, financing and equipment are excluded. Verify scope, access, paid-hour commitments and collections.
