Latest released reporting at October 25, 2026

FY2026 full-year results, released 2026-06-23, is the latest completed reporting release used here. This annual period still includes Freight before its June 1 separation. The June-to-December transition period is not a twelve-month year, and its next results were not released by the cutoff. Separation receipts and retained network cash must be modeled separately.

The audited year ran from June 1, 2025 through May 31, 2026. The direct cash remainder increased $2,135 million: operating cash rose $1,889 million while capex declined $246 million. The subtraction is 8,925 - 3,809 = $5,116 million; this precedes other investing and financing flows and is not a continuing-group run rate.

Freight was still included during that annual period before its June 1 separation. The $4.1 billion separation cash dividend is separate from approximately $800 million of tariff refunds received by May 31, 2026. FedEx plans to remit corresponding refunds to the extent customers previously paid the tariffs; neither amount is assumed to be recurring delivery cash. The following June-to-December transition is not another full year; results scheduled after October 25 are excluded.

Keep demand separate from network capacity

Build compatible shipment, operating-day, service and geography assumptions before applying a revenue-per-shipment measure. A price or fuel-surcharge change can increase reported revenue without the same increase in physical network work. Conversely, an assumed shift toward a more demanding service can require additional resources at the same total shipments.

Connect the demand case to aircraft and vehicle utilization, facility throughput, purchased transportation and cash labor. A network cannot always shrink at the same speed as volume. An assumed downside should state how long scheduled capacity remains in place and what payments are required to change it.

Distinguish adjusted expense from a cash saving

The annual report presents business optimization costs separately in its results discussion and reconciles non-cash adjustments and working capital in operating cash. A charge excluded from an adjusted earnings measure can still require a severance or professional-service payment. Prepare the payment timetable and the assumed saving timetable separately.

A useful assumed case delays network consolidation while transition payments continue. Another lowers demand with the modernization plan unchanged. Follow the effects on working capital and investment cash before concluding that an expense adjustment represents money available to distribute.

Keep reinvestment consistent with the service promise

Separate the payment for a new aircraft or facility from depreciation recognized on existing assets. Identify replacement, capacity and technology projects supporting the assumed network; label any maintenance/growth split as an analytical choice. A terminal-growth case needs enough investment to sustain its own delivery and capacity assumptions.

Starting from operating cash already includes the reported operating working-capital effect. Avoid deducting the same transport or employee payment again as investment. Reconcile leases, pension contributions, tax and interest consistently before choosing an enterprise or equity cash-flow series.

Bridge completed transactions and the fiscal calendar

The June 23, 2026 release confirms that the Freight spin-off was finalized on June 1, 2026. It also records the change from a May 31 to December 31 fiscal year-end effective for the period beginning June 1, 2026. A transition period is not directly comparable with a twelve-month fiscal year.

The October 1, 2026 completion announcement confirms the subsequent sale of FedEx Supply Chain. Prepare the removed operations, retained costs, debt, any retained investment and transaction cash on the appropriate dates. A separation-related dividend or disposal receipt is not recurring parcel operating cash.

Use comparable continuing-business periods rather than subtracting a former segment’s revenue from historical consolidated cash. Corporate allocations and intercompany arrangements can change, and a part-year disposal contribution differs from a full-year removal. Reconcile months and operating days before interpreting a growth rate.

What customers pay for and what changes the economics

FedEx customers pay for package and freight movement, with prices affected by service speed, geography, shipment characteristics, base rates and surcharges. The FY2026 annual group still included Freight, so use the completed separation boundary above for a current forecast. Fuel surcharges are indexed and often adjusted weekly, but fuel purchase and surcharge indices do not move on an identical timetable. Reported yield therefore combines commercial pricing with fuel and service mix. (FY2026 source.)

Analysis: A higher revenue per shipment can accompany unchanged or weaker underlying pricing if fuel surcharges or package weight rise. Conversely, customers can move from premium express to lower-yield deferred services as total shipping cost increases. Test retained contribution by service with the network work required, rather than treating every yield increase as a pure margin gain.

Operating signals to carry into the forecast

Watch these signals on a consistent period and definition. Undisclosed measures remain questions to investigate, rather than supplied KPI data.

  • Base yield excluding identified fuel/mix effects: distinguish commercial price from pass-through.
  • Average daily volume and service mix: reconcile operating days before comparing periods.
  • Fuel expense versus surcharge recovery: allow for index and timing differences.
  • Cost per activity and network utilization: test savings after wage, purchased-transport and transition payments.

SWOT and the forecast consequence

SWOT classifications and forecast consequences are analytical judgments; evidence uses the dated sources cited below.

AssessmentEvidenceConditional forecast consequence
StrengthA range of delivery speeds and international services addresses different shipping needs. (FY2026 source.)The network can retain demand across services, but migration to slower options may change contribution and capacity use.
WeaknessFuel purchases and surcharge calculations follow different indices and dates. (FY2026 source.)A rapid price move can temporarily alter margin and cash; do not extrapolate that timing effect.
OpportunityThe annual report describes structural network cost-reduction initiatives. (FY2026 source.)Credit savings only when service performance and actual cash cost support them, after transition spending.
ThreatHigh surcharges can move customers from express to deferred services or reduce demand. (FY2026 source.)Stress mix as well as volume, with fixed network costs adjusting on an explicit timetable.

Valuation implication: The useful recovery case improves base contribution and network productivity after the separation, rather than relying on surcharge inflation. Compare a lower-volume case with a service-mix downgrade. Neither the historical cash increase nor separation receipts establish the retained company's terminal cash margin.

Prepare the demand, capacity, payment and perimeter assumptions in the company forecast, then use the DCF calculator with a defined investor cash stream. The historical subtraction explains the method; it does not determine the continuing company’s current value.
